Kagitingan Ng Sundalo Foundation Donates an E-Cart to VMMC
The Kagitingan ng Sundalo Foundation headed by its Chairman Amelita Ming” Ramos led the ceremonial turnover of one (1) unit battery powered e-cart to Veterans memorial Medical Center (VMMC) on December 21, 2017.
In a simple blessing and turnover ceremony held at the main lobby, Ms. Ramos vividly recounted that when the hospital was being built, she applied to work as recreation officer at VMMC but it took so long to be built so when she was accepted by an American School she never had a chance to work at the hospital.
She also introduced to the crowd the Kagitingan ng Sundalo Foundation “Our foundation helps whatever we can, we are made up of wives of military personnel and we are still helping V. Luna but we wanted to help other places and so when we saw that VMMC could use our help so here we are . We will help you wherever we can, so our first project is this golf cart” she said.
VMMC Director Dominador M. Chiong Jr., top officials and employees graced the event along with the members of the foundation. Rev. Fr. Emigido A. Paredes officiated the blessing of the e-cart.
For his acceptance speech, Dr. Chiong expressed his sincere gratitude to the foundation for its “Christmas gift” to VMMC. “When I requested this (e-cart) from our ladies of the Kagitingan ng Sundalo Foundation, they readily agreed to give us this. This will really give a lot of comfort to our veterans. Alam ninyo po, habang tumatanda mahirap sumakay sa trycicle, very difficult, very uncomfortable. With this one, parang kang artista. We hope you won’t get tired to give us more “he stated.
He also made mention of the recent visit of the President who handed over a 100 M cash donation to improve the facilities of the hospital, the hefty 34 percent increase in the budget of the hospital and the increased partnership with other organization and stakeholders such as the different PMA Class groups who have offered to renovate the different wards of the hospital. “These will really help us (VMMC) to accomplish our goals which is to modernize our facility, to improve our services and increase our patient’s satisfaction”. Dr. Chiong added.
Last July, the, Air Materiel Wings Savings and Loans Association, Inc.(AMWSLAI) donated a similar E-Jeep to VMMC.
