President Rodrigo R. Duterte pays a visit to VMMC.

The VMMC community was beaming with pride and joy when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte made a visit to the hospital on December 20, 2017.

The President was accompanied by Department of Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III, and Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go.

VMMC Director Dominador M. Chiong Jr., together with top hospital officials warmly welcomed the Chief Executive and accompanied him and his entourage in his tour of various areas of the hospital which included the Renal Dialysis Unit (RDU) where he gave groceries to patients undergoing hemodialysis, Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Medical Intermediate Treatment Unit (MITU) and Ward 21 where an old friend is presently confined.

The President also instructed Management to purchase only the best available medical equipment in the market for its patients. He likewise told them to avoid awarding contracts to the lowest bidder, noting that this is a major source of corruption.

During the visit, the President handed over Php100 M for the improvement of its medical services to the veterans and their dependents. He also promised to augment the donation before the end of the year.
