VMMC holds 2nd leg of Medical Mission in Bustos, Bulacan.

Following the successful conduct of its first Medical and Surgical Mission in Lipa City, Batangas, the Veterans Memorial Medical Center conducted the 2nd leg of its monthly nationwide medical mission for 2018 at the Dr. Pablito V Mendoza Sr., Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Poblacion, Bustos, Bulacan on July 17, 2018.

The VMMC Medical Team is composed of 74 members, comprised mainly of doctors of different specialties (Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology,         Ob-gyne & Gynecology, Otorhinolaryngology and Pediatrics), nurses, dentists, pharmacists, dietitians and medical social workers. 

The Medical Mission started off immediately after the program organized by the Local Government of Bustos, Bulacan in commemoration of the 107th birthday anniversary of General Alejo S. Santos. Gracing the commemoration ceremony were  Local Government Officials and Staff of Bustos headed by Mayor Arnel F. Mendoza. Also in attendance were Bulacan Congressman Apol Pancio, Representative of Bulacan Governor Wilmelmino M. Sy- Alvarado, VMMC Director Dominador M. Chiong Jr., VFP District Commander Rodolfo Cleofe, Judge Aurora Recina, Former CHR Chair and President PAWWPO, Mrs. Liberty S. Dumlao, daughter of Gen. Alejo S. Santos and LtGen. Ernesto G. Carolina, PVAO Administrator.

A total of 403 patients were served (mostly medical and ophthalmology consultations; with 25 dental extraction; 15 gynecologic consultations; 6 minor surgeries, 7 pediatric consultation; and 61 ECG procedures.

Two hundred five (205) free eyeglasses and two (2) months maintenance medicines were given away to veterans and their dependents.  Indigent patients who availed of medical services were given one (1) week supply of medicines.

                Outreach mission is a regular monthly activity of the hospital conducted in the different parts of the country in order to reach out to veterans and their dependents who live in the far flung areas and do not have convenient access to VMMC. It is also a part of VMMCs compliance to its institutional mandate and mission.  VMMC plans to conduct another medical mission in  Malolos, Bulacan on August 13, 2018 and in Calbayog, Samar in the third week of August.
