Sunshine Media Network International (SMNI) partners with VMMC for a Tree Planting Activity.

The Sunshine Media Network International(SMNI) in partnership with the Veterans Memorial Medical Center and in coordination with the Department of National Defense conducted a tree planting activity inside the hospital compound on June 28, 2019.

More than 500 seedlings were planted by volunteers from the AFP Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Girl Scout of the Philippines (GSP), Keepers Club International, Sonshine Philippines Movement and Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

DND Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans and Retiree Affairs Reynaldo B. Mapagu served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker of the event. In his message, USEC Mapagu stressed the importance of planting trees to the environment and the numerous benefits it offers to people. He also expressed his deepest appreciation and sincerest gratitude to SMNI for their sustainable Ecohour tree planting activity. “The cleaner, greener and more pleasant environment that these trees will make VMMC in the future will be beneficial not only to the veterans but also to the retirees and their dependents’ safety and health. These trees will provide shade and protection from soil erosion, strong winds and air and noise pollutions” he remarked.

Also in attendance to witness the event were top officials of the hospital and executives and newscasters of Sonshine Radio Manila.  The event was the second tree planting activity organized and funded by the SMNI and is in line with the environment restoration program of its founding president Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy

In 2018, more than 2,000 pine trees were donated and planted in VMMC by SMNI.
